Today is Halloween, until two years ago, just another holiday of sorts where nothing in particular would happen afterward. Two years ago, it became something else, the eve of NaNoWriMo, or National Novel Writing Month. A month dedicated to writing the first draft of a 50,000 word novel. I have completed the challenge the first two times I have attempted it and I am going for my third. The first year’s novel was more of a proof of concept, that I could actually keep myself focused for the full thirty days. I did. The second year, I wrote a novel that was stuck in my head for a few years and, while it is completed, still needs much editing and may see the light of day in the next year. This year, an idea popped into my head only a couple weeks ago and does have a beginning, a middle and an end. Hopefully, I will be able to write it and make it a reality. I always look forward to this month of the year, not just for the writing, but for the social interaction with other writers in the area. So, my blog may be still for a few more weeks, but I will attempt to keep all of you up-to-date on my progress throughout the month. Here’s an idea: Try it for yourself.
