I got to sit in on Futures in Biotech yesterday and it was quite an experience. If you listen to the podcast, mind you, I said one thing and that was it (the main camera died so the host, Dr. Marc Pelletier, was using the camera on his MacBook. The guest was Dr. Dickson Despommier from Columbia University who came on to talk about parasites and vertical gardening. Both topics were very fascinating in their own rights. Dr. Despommier is a parasitologist who now teaches environmental health science at Columbia. This was episode 58 and will be up on the TWiT web site very soon.
I was sitting in the background and did manage to get on camera once. He did introduce me and give out my web site, but then that was it. It was onto the guest and the conversation on parasites and vertical gardening. I was cringing at times during the conversation because of the early subject matter, but it had me in rapt attention for the most part. There were a few technical issues with microphone cylonning (the voice sounds like that of a cylon from Battlestar Galactica).
I am tentatively scheduled to sit in again in a few weeks when his guest will be the second in command at NASA Mission Control during the 60's and 70's. I am a big fan of the space program, especially the early programs. I am looking forward to that show and will announce the exact date when I find it out.
