Alright, so I keep bringing up the retro technology as trivia, but you have to realize I am obsessed with it. I have been obsessed for a long time. A little over 5 years ago, I was sitting at my desk wanting to write a post since I hadn't for a while. It was late at night and I was determined to crank something out. The following is what I came up with...
I Am On the Cutting Edge
January 13, 2004
Many people don't realize just how high-tech I am, I think I have the coolest gadgets available. You are reading this article which I typed on my 486DX2 computer, but I can't make it too long because my 300MB hard drive is nearly full. I'm thinking about getting one of those 90MHz Intel Pentium computers, but I think I'll wait until the price comes down a little. I was just sitting around playing video games on my Atari 2600 and thinking, "Wow, can it get more real than this!?!" Video games have really hit their peak, there's not much more anybody can do to make them better. I just got my touch-tone phone plugged in and let me tell you, this is amazing, I no longer have to wait for the dial to come back around to enter the next number, and get this, the receiver actually fits on my existing modem. Speaking of phones, I just got my first cell phone, a Motorola DynaTAC, and it is really wicked and portable. It's a bit large, but I can only see these phones getting larger with time, I guess I can say that I have a small phone. I have also decided to break down and buy myself a color TV, I'm worth it and the picture looks so good when the rabbit ears are adjusted perfectly. Now I can watch all eight of my channels in pure color, how awesome is that? I hear everybody talking about portable music devices, so I went I right out and got my hands on a Sony Walkman portable cassette player. This stereo headphones are great and I can listen to "Frampton Comes Alive" wherever I go. I dig modern technology. I am always ahead of the times and that makes me feel totally rad.
I think it's worth noting that this post netted me a tremendous response when I first published it. I was also surprised that I never posted it for my Sunday Flashback, but I think it fits in much better now with the new format. I will admit, I wasn't sure how well my format changes would go over at first, but judging by the response so far, I think I made a wise decision. Thanks to all of you for your support.
