This is an odd feeling. I'm two days into NaNoWriMo and I have already noticed that my mind is more focused, but it's also a real workout. I originally thought, "1667 words a day? Piece of cake." Boy, was I wrong. It's a lot to write, but with the proper inspiration it's easy to write more than that. I know it's only the second day, but I have a good feeling. I'm over the projected goal so far, but I know that will change. I am going to want to take a day off at some point, so I would like to stay ahead of the game.
I am enjoying myself, so far. I know I am not writing for quality, but to get it done. I am hoping to get ideas out of this project and maybe write something that is really good down the road. I definitely recommend this project and also doing the writing exercises I've done the past two weeks (don't worry, I will do that again, my zebra friend promises). I have a couple "write-ins" coming up this week and I am looking forward to them.
In other news, I am now running Ubuntu Linux on my desktop upstairs. I'm liking it and it's forcing me to learn what I'm doing with it. It does require some command line stuff, but it's not impossible. I deleted Windows XP off that drive and replaced it with Karmic Koala (Ubuntu 9.10). I am amazed with all of the FLOSS that is available (FLOSS=Free Libre and Open Source Software). If you have an old computer that is getting sluggish, try it out, it's an experience. I will have a trivia question for tomorrow, so have a nice day and tune up your brains.
