This week, the countdown looks back and takes a bizarre turn in these two episodes. We are heading for #1, but not without some strange twists along the way. So, let's get into it with our next two episodes.
#5--5x01 Unusual Suspects
After a bust in a warehouse in 1989, Agent Mulder is found naked in a box and three guys are arrested for murder, two tech geeks and a PR man for the FCC. They would later be known as Mulder's go to guys, The Lone Gunmen. This episode is a favorite of mine because it shows how they came to be affiliated with one another. It's a solid episode with plenty of twists and turns, DIY dentistry and the usual witty banter. By the way, a matter of trivia, the Lone Gunmen's names are John Fitzgerald Byers, Melvin Frohike and Richard "Ringo" Langley who plays D&D for money.
There were two crossover episodes in the entire run of the X-Files and both were in the seventh season. The second of the two was already discussed at #8 in the countdown. The first one was a crossover with Chris Carter's other show at the time, Millenium. After a fourth former FBI agent commits suicide and his body is exhumed in an apparent ritual, the agents call on profiler Frank Black for help. This is a very bizarre episode and it makes me want to go back and watch Millenium again. I just may, too.
Next week promises to be really good. It's almost a shame that this countdown is coming to an end, but I am enjoying bringing it to you. Have a good day.
